    Concerts Under the Gazebo

    • During the summer the village of Cedarhurst along with its sponsors hosts Concerts Under the Gazebo. Held on Tuesday nights, the event features a pre-show and a concert from July to August. Depending on which night you attend, you may enjoy a performance from a swing band, an opera and acapella night. Sometimes, dancers and magicians also perform. You must provide your own seating during each event.

    Annual Fun Car Show

    • No more than five minutes from Cedarhurst, in Lawrence, New York, the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club of America presents the annual Fun Car Show. On its third year in 2011, the event has no classes or judges and features all kinds of vehicles regardless of make and model. See antique and classic cars, custom cars and hot rods and even trucks and motorcycles. A registration fee is charged but admission is free for spectators.

    Horse Races

    • About 20 minutes from Cedarhurst, you can watch horses race around the 1.5-mile course in Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The 430-acre racetrack features the 56-day spring/summer meeting from April to July and the 37-day fall championship meeting from September to October. It is also home of the Running of the Belmont Stakes, which is held in June and celebrates its 143rd year in 2011. Admission fees apply but when accompanied by an adult, children 12 and under are free. The dress code is "elegant attire" so jeans and shorts are not permitted.

    Polo Matches

    • During the summer polo season, enjoy watching an exciting polo match in Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York. The park charges an entrance fee, which includes admission to the polo match that is hosted by the Meadowbrook Polo Club, the country's oldest polo club. Bring the entire family to this event not only to watch polo players from all over the world, but to enjoy a picnic on the grass. Matches are open to the public every Sunday from May to October,.
