Whether you are cleaning a hard surface like linoleum or hardwood or a soft surface like carpet, you need the right tools to clean the floors in your home or office. Ignoring your floors might result in dangerous objects cutting your feet or bacteria spreading an infection. Giving your floors a little bit of attention each week will result in a better-looking home and a clean environment. Here are the tools you need to make that happen. - For deeper carpet cleans, you need a deep cleaner that picks up deep dirt, stains and spills with warm water and soapy liquid. This machine will dispense the soapy water mixture through the conditioning brushes on the bottom of it, then pick up the dirt, grime and excess water and place it into a separate container on the machine. For more frequent cleanings--to be done about once per week--use a traditional vacuum cleaner. This will pick up surface dirt and small items that have been dropped throughout the week and make the deep cleans much easier because it reduces the dirt build-up if done frequently.
- For linoleum floors, you need a broom, a bucket of soapy water, a sponge and a spray mop. You should sweep your floor as needed, but no less than once per week. A spray mop/wet jet is a great once-per-week cleaner too. With just the push of a button and the push of the mop, you can clean your linoleum quickly. The gadget sprays a bit of cleaner on the floor in front of you before you push the mop over it. Once per month, you should get down on all fours and scrub your floor with a sponge and soapy water. This allows you to get where you can't go with the spray mop.
- Hardwood floors are a great investment that greatly increase the value of a home, but they require special care. It's important to remove dust and objects quickly and frequently, as they could build up and scratch the floor. The tools you need are a broom for sweeping once per week, a floor dust mop and a wood-friendly spray cleaner. The spray cleaner should be sprayed onto the dust mop about 12 hours before you actually clean the floor. The mop will pick up surface dirt and scuff marks. This should be done once per week.
