Ideas for a Roadrunner Birthday Party

104 12

    Decorations

    • Decorate the party room in Roadrunner colors of black, yellow, purple and light blue. Purchase steamers, balloons, tableware, napkins and curling ribbon in these colors. Download images of the Roadrunner and laminate them. Hang these images around the party room. Visit a craft store and buy some material with a Roadrunner print. Make tablecloths from this fabric and drape the material over chairs. Tie the Roadrunner fabric to the chairs with colored cloth ribbon in Roadrunner colors. Inflate balloons with helium and tie with curling ribbon to roadrunner stuffed animals. Place each stuffed Roadrunner on each table as a centerpiece.

    Food

    • Since the Roadrunner is a cartoon bird, serving guests birdseed is an appropriate choice. Make a trail mix with assorted nuts, sunflower seeds, raisins and M&Ms. Place the trail mix in purple or light blue bowls on each table. Construct peanut butter and jelly sandwiches using grape or blueberry preserves. Cut the sandwiches into Roadrunner shapes with a knife. Create a Roadrunner birthday cake with a sheet cake. Decorate the cake with a Roadrunner image or Roadrunner figurines. Use the colors yellow, black, purple and light blue.

    Entertainment

    • The Roadrunner is most famous for his chase scenes in the Looney Toon cartoon series. A form of tag is an obvious choice. Drop by a craft store and pick up purple feathers and some elastic. Rent or borrow a Wile E. Coyote costume. Use the elastic to measure around guest's heads and place three purple feathers in each headband in representation of the Roadrunner. One adult will dress in the Wile E. Coyote costume and chase the Roadrunners around. Elimination occurs when Wile E. Coyote catches a Roadrunner.

Another party activity is pinning the tail feathers on the Roadrunner. Using a poster board, glue an enlarged image of the Roadrunner onto the board. Hang up on the wall. Put double-sided tape on each purple feather. Stick a small place card with player's names on the feathers. Blindfold the participants and hand them a purple feather. Whoever has the feather that is closest to the Roadrunners behind wins a prize.

    Party Favors

    • Thank guests for attending the party by passing out party favors as they leave. Purchase yellow, black, purple and light blue paper bags. Decorate the backs with Roadrunner stickers and curling ribbon. Place Roadrunner stickers, packets of peanuts, miniature bean bag Roadrunners, NERDS, Roadrunner erasers and small horns that make the Roadrunner trademark sound "Beep Beep" in the party bags.
