Using Red Worms as Fish Bait

    • 1). Skewer a red worm on a hook.

    • 2). Cast your worm, hook and fishing line in the water. Red worms are known to be strong skinned and do not die underwater right after hooking them.

    • 3). Give a little line at a time, unreeling the line as the hooked red worm sinks into the water. The strong skin of a red worm prevents it from sliding off the hook of your fishing line.

    • 4). Hold the rod steady when you feel the fish bite. Don’t pull or reel in the line yet. Allow the fish to bite into the worm. At first the fish may only nibble at the worm. However, the wonderful slime of the red worm is usually irrisistable.

    • 5). Yank the fishing rod up and reel in your fishing line when you feel the line tug virulently. This means the fish has taken the bait and has the hook in his mouth. Red worms will help you fish in all temperatures of water, getting some of the best fish the ocean or the sea has to offer.

    • 6). Reel in the fish. If he gets away, try adding more red worms to the bait to attract the startled fish. Greed will almost always win out against fear.
