Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum:
Dallas Blooms is the largest floral festival in the south, showcasing over 500,000 spring-blooming bulbs, blossoming trees, 3,000 azaelas and seasonal favorites.
Fiesta de los Flores:
The theme for Spring 2010 centers around a 12-foot tall Ferdinand the Bull topiary, bringing the classic children’s tale to life. Ferdinand will stop to smell the roses and tulips too. He's accompanied by a honey bee topiary amongst a bed of blooming spring flowers.
Peaceful Scenery:
Sixty-six acres of peaceful woods and beautifully manicured lawns and flowers. It's a great place have a picnic, take photographs, or just spend the day outdoors.
Special Events:
Make a play date for Mommy & Me Mondays and Tiny Tot Tuesdays with interactive outdoor activities. Activities are designed for children 5 years of age and younger and are located in the Pecan Grove. Activities are complimentary with garden admission plus parking.
Costs & Parking:
Adults $10, seniors $9, children 3-12 $7, children under 3 free. Self parking $7. AT&T Senior Citizens Thursdays discount/admission $7.50. If it rains on your visit to the Arboretum, stop by the ticket booth with your receipt and you will receive one pass per paid admission.
Picnics and Dining:
Bring Your Own Ants: picnics are allowed at the Arboretum but there are two restaurants available. The Lula Mae Slaughter Dining Terrace is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It serves fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps and breakfast. The DeGolyer Garden Cafe is open from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. for lunch. It serves salads, warm entrees and desserts. Teas are available throughout the year at the DeGolyer Garden Café. For more information call 214-515-6610.
Year-Round Flowers:
It's a no-brainer that that flowers play an important role in making us feel cheerful and happy. So the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens must be one of the best places in the Metroplex to lift our spirits.
The arboretum is a series of gardens and fountains with a view of White Rock Lake and the downtown Dallas skyline.
Dallas Blooms runs through April 11, 2010; however, the Dallas climate allows visitors to find flowers in bloom year round.
