How to Replace a Dell D520 Keyboard
- 1). Shut down the computer and touch an unpainted metal surface to remove the static from your body.
- 2). Open the display as far as it will go.
- 3). Locate the indentation at the far right side of the hinge cover and insert a flat head screwdriver underneath it. Pry the hinge cover up and remove it from the computer by lifting from right to left.
- 4). Extract the two screws that secure the top of the keyboard to the computer.
- 5). Lift the keyboard toward the display and then stand it up to gain access to the large ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.
- 6). Disconnect the ribbon cable and remove the keyboard from the computer.
- 7). Follow the instructions in reverse order to install the replacement keyboard on the computer.
