How to Attach a Fish Grip to a Kayak

104 15
    • 1). Find a spot to attach the fish grip on the kayak where it will be within easy reach. Decide which side of the boat is a more convenient place while also considering any other fishing equipment on the kayak.

    • 2). Use the rivet gun and the drill to attach a deck loop where the fish grip's jaw will be located. Attach the grip to the loop and let it lay on top of your boat.

    • 3). Take the bungee cord and place across the bottom of the fish grip handle to get an idea of where to put the other two deck loops. The two deck loops will secure the cord so that it can hold the fish grip. You can either rivet at the top or sides of your kayak, depending on the set up of your boat.

    • 4). Rivet the two deck loops, then attach the bungee cord. Make a double knot to secure the cord tightly on one end then pull over to the other deck loop and make another double knot. This will hold the handle of your fish grip.

    • 5). Cut the excess ends of the bungee cord one inch from the double knots and burn the ends with a lighter to avoid fraying. Attach the fish gripper.
