Home Made Soccer Decorations
- European soccer teams have long used the tradition team scarves to show support. You will often see fans draping the woven scarves over themselves in support of a specific team. If you cannot knit, try making one of these scarves out of felt. Measure a large piece of felt about three feet long and 6 inches wide. Embellish the felt with colors and symbols of your favorite team. You can even invite guests at a party to make their own soccer scarves by providing these simple materials, scissors to cut out shapes and a glue gun to piece them all together.
- You can turn any ordinary circular frame into a soccer-themed picture frame. Simply get popsicle sticks, ping pong balls, a black marker, a glue gun and some magnets. Align the popsicle sticks in the shape of a stick figure. Glue them together, and glue the small circular frame on top as the "face" of the stick figure. Use the black marker to give the image of a soccer ball to the ping-pong ball, and glue this onto the stick figure by the legs or feet. Glue magnets to the back of the figure, and you have a frame ready to showcase a soccer picture. Invite guests to participate by making their own jerseys for the frames out of construction paper or felt.
- If you are ready to take on a bigger challenge, try creating your own pinata. Use a soccer ball itself as the form, and make your own papier mache using newspaper and a mache recipe. Over the course of a few days, so the mache has time to try, add layers of paper over the ball. Leave a gap near the air hole in the ball. When the mache has hardened, deflate the soccer ball, and remove it through the gap. Add candy and prizes then seal up the gap. Once you have painted your soccer ball pinata, it will be ready for the party.
