How to Glue Carpet Binding Tape to a Rug
- 1). Plug a hot glue gun in so it will begin to warm up. While the glue gun is warming up, continue with Steps 2 and 3.
- 2). Trim the edges of the rug with a pair of sharp scissors so they will be free of random threads of yarn and rug backing along the trimmed edge.
- 3). Flip the rug over on the floor so the bottom side is up. Peel the backing off of a piece of carpet binding tape. Do not cut the length of the carpet binding tape to match the width of the rug. Stick one edge of the carpet binding tape to the back side of the rug. Flip the rug over again so the top of the rug is up.
- 4). Apply a bead of hot glue along the cut edge of the carpet where the carpet and the carpet binding tape meet. Immediately wrap the carpet binding tape over the edge of the carpet while the glue is still hot to get the best bond.
- 5). Wrap the remaining length of carpet binding tape around the back of the rug to finish the rug corner.
