VNC 4 Tutorial
- 1). Download RealVNC 4 (see Resources) and double-click the downloaded executable to install.
- 2). Follow the on-screen prompts until you get to the "Select Components" page. Select "VNC Server" and click "Next."
- 3). Accept default settings until you reach the "Select Addition Tasks" page. Select both options to register VNC Server as a service and to launch it in Service-Mode. This will allow you to connect to the computer even if there isn't a user already logged in.
- 4). Review your installation options and click "Install." When the installation completes a VNC Server Properties box will open.
- 5). Select the "Authentication" tab and click "VNC Password Authentication."
- 6). Click "Configure" and enter your password on both lines. The passwords must match exactly including case or you will get an error. Click "OK."
- 7). Visit the WhatIsMyIP website (see Resources) and record the number listed. You will need this address to connect to this computer.

- 3). Accept default settings and complete the installation.
- 4). Launch VNC Viewer from the "Start" menu.
- 5). Enter the IP address of the computer you wish to connect to in the "Server" text box. Click "OK."
- 6). Enter your password and click "OK." RealVNC will now create a connection to the remote computer allowing you to control the system from your desktop.
