How to Remove a Mildew Smell From Wood Paneling
- 1). Position a fan to blow on the affected wood paneling. If you can open windows or doors in the vicinity as a source of fresh air, do that as well. Place a dehumidifier in the vicinity of the paneling as well and remove as much dampness from the environment as possible. Wait until the paneling and mildew is dry before proceeding to the next step.
- 2). Put on a filter mask and vacuum as much of the mildew off the paneling as possible with a shop vacuum.
- 3). Mix a solution of four parts water to one part household bleach in a bucket.
- 4). Scrub the paneling with the bleach and water solution. After scrubbing, wipe the paneling down with a clean rag dipped in clear water. Dry with a clean towel or rag.
- 5). Position the fans and dehumidifier to dry the paneling thoroughly.
