Townsend is a small Tennessee town and home to one of the three entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Because this third entrance is one of the least-used poits, the town is known as "The Peaceful Side of the Smokies." Visitors to Townsend will find a variety of museums that pertain to the park's natural history and a variety of cabin accommodation options. - The Little River Log cabins are located on the southern side of the Little River and offer three newly-built non-smoking cabin options. The three cabins are the Pioneer, the Settler and the Homestead. All three cabins are located approximately 100 feet from the Little River and have stone fireplaces, front porches with rocking chairs and mountain views, and cathedral ceilings. Each cabin is also equipped with fully equipped kitchens, central heat and air conditioning, televisions, telephones, six-person hot tubs on the back porches, towels and linens.

The campground has both tent and RV campsites and a variety of cabin options. The Tremont has camping cabins, standard cabins, premier cabins and log homes. All cabins except camping cabins have private baths, air conditioning, heat, cable television, a fireplace, a charcoal grill, a picnic table and a fire ring. Camping cabins have heat, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, cable television hookup, a picnic table, charcoal grill and a fire ring. Amenities at the campground include a large swimming pool with a kiddie wading pool area, three bath houses, a game room, a laundry facility and a playground.
