Making Your Wedding Invitations Selection

105 50
Your wedding invitations will play a large part in your overall wedding day. Unless you have sent out save the date cards; they act as the first contact your guests will have with your big day. As such it is important to take some time to really consider your wedding invitations design and make the right statement to your guests. Read on for guidance on how to select that right wedding invitations to perfectly suit your wedding day plans.

Choosing the theme and colour

The most important factors to consider when choosing your wedding invitations are the colours and the theme of the design. It is common practice for the colours to be in keeping with those that will be present during the wedding ceremony, with the bride's dress, bouquet and the table centrepieces all being options to match with. If you are planning a more whacky theme, then it is imperative that you include this in your design selection to help inform the guests of your intentions. If you are going for a straight forward wedding then be sure to convey through the design as to whether it will be a formal or more relaxed affair.

Considering the font

Where you are planning a formal event the font selection should usually be flowing and decorative. More casual affairs allow the use of less elaborate fonts and wording with straighter lines and sharp angles is suitable. If your budget stretches to it then you may consider hiring a professional calligrapher to write out your wedding invitations.

Checking the proof version

Many brides are so excited when they receive the proof version of their wedding invitations that they fail to check it thoroughly. It is quite surprising how many couples end up with a finished product that has a spelling mistake or incorrect time on the stationery item. So take some time to sit on your own and check every detail. Then get your partner to do the same. Finally ask a third person to give them a thorough check and make sure everything is spot on before giving the supplier permission to complete the rest of the invites.

When to get them

It is wise to try and give your guests as much notice as you possibly can of when your wedding will be held. This is especially important if your wedding will be held during the holiday season when people may be planning on going away or visiting family. Try to get your wedding invitations sent out six months before the date of your wedding and certainly no less than three months.
