How to Make a Centerpiece Using Grapes

    • 1). Select an appropriately sized and shaped basket for the centerpiece. Larger baskets will hold more grapes, but a basket that is too large may overwhelm the overall appearance of the table.

    • 2). Purchase fresh grapes so they are firm and ripe for your event. Have enough to fill your basket, with extras to add to cheese platters or other food offerings. Wash the grapes and let them drain completely, or dry them with a kitchen towel.

    • 3). Arrange the doily or fabric on the flat inner part of the basket. Lay three or four grape leaves around the basket. Place clusters of grapes into the basket by spiraling them in different colors, with the wider part of each cluster toward the center and the narrower end draping outward.

    • 4). Tuck several grape leaves into the clusters of grapes. Weave the vine around the basket handle or the entire basket. Tuck in a couple of grape leaves into the basket handle, or simply leave them off if the centerpiece appears to be full enough.

    • 5). Tie a raffia or ribbon bow to one side or the top of the basket handle.

    • 6). Place the completed basket arrangement onto the center of your table. You can either leave it as is or surround it with wine glasses into which you place votive candles. Alternatively, fill the glasses with grapes and tie raffia around the stems.
