How to Clean Canon Ink Cartridges
- 1). Turn off and unplug your printer. Remove the cartridge from your Canon printer by pulling it out of its socket. Then place it on a soft surface. Note how you pulled the cartridge out of the printer, because it can help with the re-installation process.
- 2). Locate the gold-colored strip on the printing cartridge. Wipe the strip down with a dry, soft cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
- 3). Wipe the rest of the cartridge with a rag and a little bit of rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining dirt on the cartridge. Do not wipe down the golden strip, because the rubbing alcohol could damage it. Allow the rubbing alcohol to dry.
- 4). Reinstall the cartridge by slipping the cartridge back into the printer. Plug the printer in, then turn it on.
