    • 1). Launch the application with which you want to use the webcam.

    • 2). Click the "Photo" or "Video" button to launch the Photo or Video window, if applicable.

    • 3). Select a contact from the contact list in the application if this is required by the application to use the webcam. For example, you must select a contact to video conference with if you are using the FaceTime application. Access the Contacts list from the main menu bar of the application.

    • 4). Look directly into the webcam located at the top of the monitor so that the other user can see your face, or position your MacBook so that the webcam is facing the location that you want to take pictures of or record video. Click the "Photo," "Camera" or "Video" button to use the webcam to take pictures or record video. If the application you want to use is iChat, you have to perform an extra step to enable the webcam.

    • 5). Click "Video" on the main menu bar in iChat, and then click "Camera Enabled" on the drop-down list. This turns on the MacBook's webcam and places a checkmark next to it, indicating its enabled status.

    • 6). Click "Buddies" from the menu bar, then select a contact from the list. Click the "Camera" button at the bottom of the window. An invitation is sent to your selected contact, and you can video conference with him after he accepts the invitation.
