The Hillcrest region of San Diego city contains a large gay and lesbian population, and is the location of the various gay bars within the city. Hillcrest offers a wide range of restaurants, coffeehouses and many different gay nightclubs. Some of the establishments that comprise the gay nightlife include Flicks, a video bar and Rich's, known as the largest dance club in the region. - Rich's claims the title of the largest gay dance club in San Diego, and has two separate rooms, each with their own dance floor and bar. The bar is open from Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Rich's hosts drag shows on various nights of the month, and features ladies night on Thursdays, and pop music on Fridays. The club is open to those 21 years of age and older.

Open seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., for those over 21 years old, the bar includes happy hour specials such as $3 domestic pitchers, $4 well drinks and $5 specialty drinks. Karaoke nights are Tuesdays, and feature a cash prize of $300. Saturday's special is a reverse cover charge, in which you receive $5 in Bourbon Bucks, redeemable at the bar, with your paid cover. Sundays offers ladies night, complete with go-go dancers.

Food is available from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the bar remains open until 2 a.m. Each night of the week features drink specials and different shows. Wednesdays feature the Dream Girls drag show and a $5 breakfast menu. Kickers, a country dancing night, takes place on Thursdays from 7 p.m. until closing.
