How to Move a Tool Bar
- 1). Grab the floating or docked tool bar. To grab floating tool bars, which are those that sit anywhere in the middle of the program screen, click anywhere on the thick bar at the top of the toolbar. To grab docked tool bars, which are those that are locked in place at the top, bottom or either side of the program screen, click on the handle, which appears as a series of vertical dashes.
- 2). Move the tool bar by holding down the mouse button and dragging the cursor to a new location. Floating tool bars can be moved anywhere in the window, while docked tool bars must be moved to the top, bottom or either side of the screen.
- 3). Let go of the mouse button to drop the tool bar. A floating tool bar will remain exactly where it is dropped, and a docked tool bar will snap to the edge of the screen in its new location.
- 1). Get into the computer's registry. Click on the "Start" menu, type "regedit" into the search box and press "Enter." Click "Yes" if prompted to confirm the operation, and the registry editor will appear on your screen.
- 2). Scroll to the registry entry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser". If you are using a different browser, look for the registry entry that most closely resembles this entry with the name of your web browser in the place of "Internet Explorer." Click on this registry entry to highlight it.
- 3). Right-click on "WebBrowser," hover over the word "New" and choose "DWORD (32-bit) Value." Type "ITBar7Position" in the box labeled "New Value #1." Hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
- 4). Right-click on "ITBar7Position" and select "Modify" from the list that comes up. When the "Value data" box appears, type "1" into it and click "OK."
- 5). Restart Internet Explorer. The tool bar will be repositioned above the address bar.
