How to Fill Kodak ESP 5500 Ink Cartridges
- 1). Make a hole in the top of the cartridge with a heated pin or a small drill bit. Make the hole about one third of the way from the edge around the spot where the letter "K" is. Ensure no shavings fall into the chamber below.
- 2). Fill the plastic syringe bottle with 10 to 15 milliliters of black ink. If the cartridge still has some ink in it (which is recommended), fill the bottle closer to the 10 millileter mark.
- 3). Place the syringe needle into the cartridge's hole and slowly inject the ink into the chamber sponge. Try to saturate the sponge, if possible.
- 4). Let the cartridge sit overnight to allow the ink to settle and drip any excess.
- 1). Remove the lid from the cartridge by inserting a knife blade where the black and colored plastic meet. There are three holes in the surface underneath.
- 2). Dip a toothpick or pin into each of the holes to determine which color is in which chamber: magenta, yellow or cyan. Use a different pin or toothpick for each chamber.
- 3). Fill the syringe with 5 milliliters of one color ink. Insert the needle into the correct chamber and slowly inject the ink into the sponge within.
- 4). Place the lid back on after refilling the chambers and tape it shut. Let the cartridge stand overnight.
