How to Bleach Decks
- 1). Hose off the deck to remove the bulk of surface dirt, dust, pollen and other grime. Use a pressure nozzle on the hose to put out a forceful stream. There is no need to use a pressure washer, unless desired.
- 2). Spray on a wood cleaner if you have stubborn dirt or stains that need to be removed. Use a long-handled scrub brush to work it in and clean the wood.
- 3). Fill a bucket with 1 part bleach and 9 parts water. Mix together. This is the recommended proportion for a bleach cleaner to kill mold. Fill the mixture into a garden or chemical sprayer.
- 4). Spray the deck in its entirety. Soak the wood so there is enough to seep down into every crevice and the wood itself. Allow it to sit for several minutes.
- 5). Hose down the deck again to rinse off the bleach solution.
