How Do I Add or Replace Memory on an Acer Aspire 3000?
- 1). Shut down your laptop and disconnect the AC power supply.
- 2). Lay your laptop upside down on a flat surface. Slide the battery release switch and remove the battery.
- 3). Remove the two screws that secure the memory cover to the base. The memory cover is located in the center of your computer base and can be identified by a small RAM-shaped icon. Once the screws are removed, lift the cover up and set it aside.
- 4). Insert the new RAM stick into the DIMM slot. To properly insert the RAM, place the end of the RAM into the slot at a diagonal angle and then press it down until the retention clips click. If you are replacing an existing RAM stick, press the retention clips outward until the stick pops up at a diagonal angle and lift it away before installing the new stick.
- 5). Return the memory cover and secure it to the base with the two screws.
- 6). Reconnect the AC power cord and battery and turn on your computer. It will automatically recognize the newly installed RAM.
