How to Kill and Remove Mold

104 11
    • 1). Scrub away any mold that you can see. This can be done using a scrubbing brush or cloth that has been dipped in warm, soapy water. For this step, a liquid dish soap will be fine, as the point is to simply remove the mold from sight.

    • 2). Wipe the area with dry paper towels in order to dry that area. Make sure the area is completely dry before you move on to the next step.

    • 3). Spray the mold with straight white vinegar. How much white vinegar you use will be determined by how much mold is on the item. Make sure the mold is completely covered with the straight, undiluted vinegar.

    • 4). Scrub the white vinegar into the area. Just as with Step 1, you can use either a brush or cloth. Do not use the same brush or cloth you used in Step 1, however, if you have not cleaned the item first. A clean brush or cloth must be used during this step.

    • 5). Allow the white vinegar to sit on the moldy item for 60 to 120 minutes.

    • 6). Pour lemon juice over the area and then wipe the area with clean paper towels. This will complete the cleaning process and help to remove any foul odors.

    • 7). Check the area to make sure it is completely dry. To be safe, you could wipe the area once more with a clean cloth or clean paper towels, or you could place a fan in front of the area. If the area has not fully dried, your mold problem could resurface.
