You like Desperate Housewives; he likes The Discovery Channel.
You like shopping; he likes rugby.
You like staying in on a Saturday and cuddling up with your favorite bottle of chardonnay, he likes larging it with the lads.
So why are you together again? The good news is that opposites do attract, the bad news is that once the first flush of love has worn you actually have to live with his 'alternative' way of doing things.
I mean what is that about!? Most dating agencies, believe it or not actually match potential couples by what they have in common! If you have ever received that faithful slip of paper through the door you will be greeted by a list of ticked boxes.
She was into horse riding, so was he.
She loved renaissance art - him too! Middle Eastern cooking - he was her man! Go get him girl! The entire system is built around clients who felt the same, thought about the same things and spent their time in the same way.
Although I'm sure they meant well, most of the dates would more than likely turn out to be a massive disappointment with not even a hint of romance.
Why? Well why fall in love with a carbon copy of yourself.
It is because you are sick of spending so much time with 'you' that you want a partner! What you really want (even if you don't know it yet) is stimulating company, which you cannot give to yourself.

Don't get me wrong that doesn't mean you have to fall for the guy whose values you cannot stand, whose friends drive you crazy and whose pastimes are less appealing than torture!
