While visitors to Arizona can find a variety of attractions and things to do in Phoenix, many charge an admission fee. However, you can find a few exciting things to do and see in Phoenix for no charge. For those on a budget, visit the few parks and museums that are available in the city that offer a free admission. - The Phoenix Police Museum does not charge an admission fee; however, it does take cash donations. The museum features a replica of an early 1900s police station, replica 1910 city street, an old jail cell and a 1919 Ford Model T police car. The Phoenix Police Museum opened in 1993 and is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but closed for all city holidays. An on-site gift shop is also available for guests to purchase souvenirs such as t-shirts, coffee mugs, magnets and plush toys.

The pass is good for two people to the Children's Museum of Phoenix, Arizona Museum of Natural History, Arizona Museum of Youth and the Phoenix Zoo. Four people can get in free at the Bead Museum, the Phoenix Art Museum and the Cave Creek Museum. These passes are given away on a first-come, first-served basis at many local libraries. Sixteen public libraries in Phoenix have these culture passes. You must have a valid library card to check out a culture pass.

The North Mountain Park is home to several hiking and biking trails with levels of difficulty for the entire family. The visitor's center closed in April 2010, but the picnic areas and a children's playground are still available to all guests. This park features a Silent Sunday, which is scheduled for certain Sundays of each month, and does not allow any motorized vehicles on the park trails or roadways. Families can enjoy picnics and the views of the North Mountain Park, all free of charge.
