How to Get Wood Glue Off Fabrics
- 1). Scrape any loose glue from the fabric using the blunt edge of a butter knife or a spoon. Peel any loose pieces of glue from the fabric.
- 2). Fill a sink or bathtub with the hottest water you can manage; consider boiling water on your stove, then pouring it into the sink or bathtub. Soak the glue-stained fabric in the hot water for at least two minutes.
- 3). Scrape or peel loosened glue from the fabric.
- 4). Saturate the wood glue stain with vinegar using a washrag or cloth. Allow the vinegar to work on the stain for at least 10 minutes. Wipe the stain clean, then scrape or peel loosened glue.
- 5). Apply ammonia in the same way as the vinegar, then remove the loosened glue from the fabric.
- 6). Rub petroleum jelly into the stain. Scrape or peel loosened edges from the fabric.
- 7). Soak a sponge in a mixture of 2 cups hot water with 1 tbsp. of dish detergent. Scrub until the stain is gone.
- 8). Place a clean towel over the stained fabric and iron at the warmest setting safe for the towel. Scrape or peel loosened glue from the fabric.
