The Difference in HX2490 and HX2490B
- Each HP iPAQ hx2490 and HP iPAQ hx2490b have 64MB of system memory using the Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory architecture. However, the amount of flash memory -- which is used to store data -- differs between the devices. The hx2490 has 128MB, while the hx2490 surpasses it with 192MB. Moreover, the amount of flash memory available for use is 80MB for the hx2490 and 128MB for the hx2490b. Nevertheless, both Pocket PCs have flash memory expansion slots for CompactFlash, MultiMediaCard and Secure Digital cards.
- The HP iPAQ hx2490 and the HP iPAQ hx2490b run on the Windows Mobile 5.0 Premium Edition operating system. Each PDA uses an Intel XScale PXA270 processor, which has a clock speed of 520MHz. The operating temperature range is 32 degrees to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius.
- Each HP iPAQ hx2490 and HP iPAQ hx2490b has wireless connectivity that adheres to the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11b. Apart from the aforementioned flash memory card slot, the PDAs have a USB port to connect to a USB-compatible device such as a computer, as well as a 3.5-millimeter stereo audio jack for inserting headphones. Each device runs on an 1,440-milliampere-hour lithium-ion battery.
- Each HP iPAQ hx2490 and HP iPAQ hx2490b has a height of 4.7 inches, width of 3 inches and depth of 0.6 inches, with a weight of 5.8 oz. Its transflective, thin-film transistor color screen -- measuring 3.5 inches diagonally -- has a display quality of 240 by 320 pixels in resolution and a 64,000-color display in 16-bit depth. Built into each PDA are a microphone and speaker.
