The Little Five Points (L5P) area of Atlanta, Georgia was once known for its punk/skater/alternative lifestyle atmosphere. Moreland Avenue runs through the middle of L5P and numerous boutique shops, cafés and used clothing and record stores line the street. Many unique bars and restaurants make their home in Little Five and despite the "suburbanization" of L5P one thing hasn't changed, the restaurants still serve good, reasonably priced food. - With its giant red-eyed, laughing skull façade, the Vortex (known for burgers, bikers and beer) seems intimidating. Patrons are warned; the Vortex does not cater to idiots or elitist. If smoking or strippers or loud music offends you, than they suggest you eat somewhere else. The Vortex has an extensive list of made-fresh-to-order dishes. The Vortex offers over 20 different burgers including the Elvis burger, the Yokohama Mama burger and the Coronary Bypass burger---a half-pound sirloin patty, topped with an egg, three slices of American cheese, four slices of bacon and mayo on the side. In addition to its burgers, diners can choose from salads, sandwiches, wraps and more. Bring an appetite but leave the attitude at home...the Vortex considers itself an "Official Idiot-Free Zone".

With loads of old suitcases and knick-knacks filling the space, the Porter's atmosphere beckons one to sit and stay a while. The Porter provides a smoke-free environment until 10 p.m. making it more kid friendly. Selections from the Porter's menu include the Porter's Half-Pound Cheeseburger, the Buffalo Shrimp Po' Boy and a southern favorite Shrimp and Grits---served with white cheddar grits, Portobello and crimini mushrooms and truffle oil.
Since this establishment is also a beer bar, the Porter also includes beer suggestions for every main dish and starter on the menu. For example, if ordering the Porter's Signature Hush Puppies, they suggest a St. Ambroise Apricot Ale as the accompaniment.

Traditional side dishes include hummus---freshly blended chickpeas, herbs, and tahini and lemon juice; Babagonoush---oven roasted eggplant puree blended with tahini, extra virgin olive oil and herbs plus dolmas and tabouli.
Anyone unfamiliar with Mediterranean cuisine can sample a number of the restaurant's dishes by ordering the Mediterranean Mix Platter.
