How to Get Rid of Mold in the Studs
- 1). Pull the drywall from the studs, in the affected area. Remove the insulation and place it in the garbage bag. Identify the source of any moisture and mitigate it, to prevent future mold growth.
- 2). Scrape away all surface mold and mildew, using the plastic scraper. Then, place the mold scraps in a plastic garbage bag.
- 3). Clean the studs with a stiff brush and a mixture of hot water and detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry the area with paper or other disposable towels. Place the towels and scraper in the plastic garbage bag.
- 4). Disinfect the area with a mixture of bleach and water (1/2-cup of bleach per gallon of water). Allow the area to air dry.
